Artist Statement
Working as ‘The Sourcerer,’ I collect 20th Century Studio Ceramics from car boot sales, flea markets, and other overlooked spaces, democratic sites where objects connect with people through their emotional patina rather than through the tactics of mainstream commerce. These discoveries inform an art practice that embraces both socially engaged outcomes and one-off creations. Face-to-face exchanges spark conversations, real or imagined, that transform transactions into moments of empathic connection and possibility.
This philosophy shapes my studio practice, research, and social engagement. I work with lost, broken, and overlooked ceramics, fragments of everyday life that carry histories of use, care, and abandonment. In their cracks and flaws, I find stories of endurance.
My work explores resilience and potential, both in the objects I work with and within the broader human journey, particularly the struggle grassroots artists face to be seen, heard, and valued.
Living with ADHD has shaped my attention, curiosity, and responsiveness to the overlooked, fostering a practice that thrives on serendipity and layered, empathic connections.
I exhibit my work, run workshops, and undertake personal commissions. I also run a social enterprise supporting artists, providing practical services and networks that help creative lives thrive, reinforcing that resilience and artistic survival are nurtured not just in the studio, but through empathic care and shared resources.
